Welcome ToMoStudio
Experience the Art of Chinese Calligraphy
About Us
MoStudio began twenty years ago in Anhui, China — the home of Xuan paper and the heart of Chinese calligraphy. What started as a small local studio has grown into a welcoming space for people to experience the beauty of brush and ink.
We've taught students from all walks of life — children, adults, and elders — and shared our works in exhibitions and cultural events around the world. Along the way, we've found that calligraphy is more than an art form; it's a way to slow down, breathe, and connect.
In 2025, we opened our doors in the San Francisco Bay Area. Here, we hope to continue our story — to preserve the art we love, to share it with a new community, and to keep building bridges between cultures through the joy of writing.

Our Classes
At MoStudio, we offer a range of classes designed to share the beauty and discipline of Chinese calligraphy with students of all backgrounds and experience levels.
Whether you're a beginner or an experienced learner, our programs provide personalized guidance in a warm, inspiring environment.
Small Group Class I
Learn the fundamentals of Chinese calligraphy in a small, friendly group setting. Students will be introduced to brush techniques, basic strokes, and character structure while exploring the cultural meaning behind each piece. Perfect for beginners and those who want to reconnect with traditional art.
Small Group Class II
Designed for students with prior calligraphy experience, this advanced-level class builds upon foundational skills to refine technique and deepen artistic understanding. Students will study more complex brushwork, explore advanced script forms, and learn how to balance strength and grace in composition.
Private 1-1 Class
A personalized learning experience tailored to your goals and pace. Ideal for focused practice, portfolio preparation, or exploring specific calligraphy styles. Our instructor will provide individualized feedback and demonstration to help you advance efficiently and confidently.
Our Teachers
Our teachers at MoStudio are passionate calligraphers who have studied and practiced a wide range of traditional scripts — from seal (篆), clerical (隶), and standard (楷) to semi-cursive (行) and cursive (草) styles. Each stroke they teach carries both technical precision and artistic expression.
In class, we value warmth and encouragement. Our teachers believe that calligraphy should be a joyful journey of discovery — one that allows every student to learn at their own pace, find confidence, and express their individuality through brush and ink.
More than just teaching techniques, we share a passion for culture and creativity. Through every lesson, we hope to inspire students to see calligraphy not as something distant or ancient, but as a living art that speaks to the present.
